Short description
Example project demonstrating logging, distributed tracing and Prometheus metrics for jEAP microservices.
Long description
This repository shows how to set up logging, distributed tracing and technical monitoring for jEAP Blueprint Microservices. It consists of three services and a local OpenTelemetry backend: * jme-log-service: An example of how to generate structured, trace-correlated logs. * jme-tracing-service: An example of how to use distributed tracing to correlate log lines across services, calling jme-log-service to demonstrate cross-service trace propagation.
- jme-prometheus-service: An example of how to integrate a Prometheus endpoint for technical monitoring, including custom counters, gauges, distribution summaries and timers.
Features
- Demonstrates structured logging with trace/span id correlation via MDC
- Demonstrates distributed tracing across service boundaries using Micrometer Tracing and OpenTelemetry
- Demonstrates exposing custom Prometheus metrics and actuator info
- Includes a local OpenTelemetry backend (Grafana, Tempo, OTel Collector) for exploring traces
